How Do You Spell 17?

Birthdays are easily forgotten. I mean, you have a 1 in 365 (sometimes 366) chance of getting it right and a 364 in 365 chance of getting it wrong!

This year, I kept forgetting my own birthday! It always seems 'ages away' because it is for about 10 months of the year! It's not like Christmas either, when everyone is wearing Santa hats and singing Christmas carols. Last time I checked, no-one wore red wigs and sang 'Happy Birthday to You' a month in advance.

Since there are no festivities, it just didn't feel like my birthday until I got into the car yesterday morning and Mam exclaimed
"Clutch! Brake! Accelerate!"

Driving. That's another thing. You have been warned!

At lunch yesterday I had been asked to sing at an end-of-term concert at school (for those who may be wondering, I sang Love is Easy by Mcfly. It went quite well!) and before I sang, I was deigned 'Birthday Girl' by my biology teacher - the presenter and the guy who played the guitar alongside the ukulele player, Niamh and myself - so the whole school new about my special day!

Obviously, one of the fabulous parts if the day was the presents! I'm writing this on the 28th because there's always some the day after!

Firstly, my friend - and fellow blogger - Graham sent me an online birthday message - complete with poem! This would have to be one of the most clever presents I have ever received! Just wait until your birthday Graham! I have a few tricks up my sleeve myself! May 5th guys! A date for your diaries!

Other presents included chocolate, (an advantage of having a birthday celebrated near Easter) money and battery powered hamsters. Thanks Tina! :)

I am patiently awaiting at least 4 other presents which I am very excited about! One is coming from New York! It's on a freaking boat! Argh!!

Personally, I have been very organised this year with my present giving! I have created a list of items I have called 'Best Present Idea for *insert name here* So Far.' Please not this does not mean that any of the said presents will be delivered on time! Last year it took me until Christmas to give them all out.

Nobody's perfect...

My cake was a flake cake and I loved it double because it rhymed. :)

This birthday has been a great excuse to sing 'I am 16 Going on 17' constantly for a week previous. If you've never heard this song, you're missing out! Watch it here!

It's not all rosy though. I mean, I'm 17! I'm the oldest in my group of friends and quite frankly, I feel old!  am but one year away from being able to watch 18 rated movies legally! (This is not implying I watch them illegally! I'm too much of a scaredy cat to watch anything worse than Titanic!) If only you could refund your age. It seems like yesterday  was still learning the alphabet, now they're putting me in charge of a moving vehicle! And I do not mean a Barbie car!

This freak out was also tweeted last night! Enjoy:

If you have made it this far, I salute you! I'll try not to be so bi-polar next time.

Just Passing!

I have a confession. This is not my first blog.

2 years ago I created a Posterous account with my friends creating their own. We wrote about 3 blogs each and the excitement ended. I just wanted to show you the monstrosity of what I was those few years previous. Please, don't enjoy!

The header's quite nice though. You can enjoy the header :)

The Closest Thing to Time Travel

So I came back to talk to you about the pointlessness of ties and ears. However I'm afraid you'll have to keep your suspense in check for now. I decided not to. They are pointless after all!

Now I'm staring at an almost blank screen with no title and a feeble introduction, so if you're still here, either you are extremely polite or you think I was just bluffing about not discussing ties and ears. I wasn't. Sorry.

In points of desperation such as now - me desperately trying to procrastinate from studying - I am swerved to tell you about the random thoughts in my head which I encountered today.

Last night I tweeted: "In a way, Sarah's already awake... To her it's probably 12 noon or something..." By last night I mean about 5am. I didn't sleep much, you may be able to tell. I did wake up at 12 noon however. That's 7 hours. Borderline healthy.
That is not the point!
My point is about the tweet. I was referring to the idea that to us, sleep is short, almost instantly over, depending on how much of your dreams you can recall. Nothing really happens to us in the hours we are asleep, and when we wake up it's as though we've just fast forwarded to the next day.
My sister had been asleep for about 5 hours until I managed to drag myself from the internet. So if sleep is momentary, she's been awake for about 5 hours! For her, it'll be the afternoon and I was still stuck at 5 in the morning! She's traveled into the future without me. Crazy.

Maybe that's the closest we'll get to time travel. Too bad we couldn't communicate. That'd be useful. Sarah could have told me how much I wouldn't like the chicken soup I ate for lunch. Handy.

... That'll do for a title! I'll type that in now... Done!

Today we've had a few calls from one of those annoying people who try to sell you things. We all hate them, don't we? Thing is, sometimes when it's one of these callers, I'm relieved. I come across as a bubbly and weird in real life as much as I may online but when it's a face to face interaction, the other person doesn't have a choice but to listen to my continuous nattering. Online, this choice is optional.

The thing is, when I begin rambling on and on, I just can't stop! This is why, when those annoying callers call, I can hang up! That way said caller doesn't have to regret their call to my house!

Sarah just came into my room to tell me we're having Chinese for tea tonight. Nice!

Wan't to know what I hate? When I'm asked to repeat myself! Ugh! I live in a house where if I speak to fast, my mother (who is also partially deaf) will ask me to repeat myself maybe, three or four times! My father and sister understand me, but I come out with the most outrageous things they too have to stop me and ask what on earth I was going on about. My friends and most of my family understand me. You get used to it! Thank goodness!

I bring this upon myself.

Not so much a blank screen now.

Me.

I guess the first post is the most tricky. Trying to impress passers by with an incomparable flair and a new, undying passion for blogging; selling your words for followers or just explaining who, what, where and why you are!

Me? I have no idea what I'm doing!

Hi! My name's Susanna Ruth Tait, nicknamed Sana because my parents gave me a name impossible to pronounce at 2 years old. I live in Scotland, I have red hair, green eyes, fair skin, an infestation of freckles and thus a greater chance of skin cancer. I'm a border-line hypochondriac with a terrible memory and who's greatest fear is having dementia. I also have a mild phobia of seagulls. I find them ugly and vicious and would much rather be pecked to death by a peacock.

I'm a sucker for books and writing. Except my uncanny procrastination levels have steadily increased over the years so if you ever see my name on a book somewhere, you can probably suspect I'll be at least 60 by the time it has been published.

I'm waiting patiently for hover boards, the next instalments of each marvel movie and for my one true love. A hover board would do.

This wasn't supposed to sound like the usual run-of-the-mill introductory blog post. Maybe it turned out that way, maybe we have different opinions on what 'run-of-the-mill' is. I don't know. I hope it didn't sound like it...

This is why the word 'Rambling' is included in my blog name. You may have noticed that I have been rambling. If you didn't notice, I was.

Bye.
